Thank you for your interest in WIT's Adopt-A-Family Program!

Here’s how Adopt-A-Family works:

  1. WIT chooses a family (or families) for each donor to adopt, based on the following criteria:
    - The parent or caregiver has consistently discussed with their counselor a diminished capacity to provide basics for their children.
    - The client is not actively addicted to alcohol or drugs.
    - The family will not be in any danger from the abusive partner if the family receives donations.

  2. For confidentiality reasons, the family/families to be adopted will remain anonymous to their donors, except for first names, and ages of children.

  3. Each WIT family will choose either Target, Walmart or Amazon gift cards to be purchased by the donor. We have suggested donation amounts based on family sizes below:

    1 Child……………Suggested Donation: $150
    2 Children……..Suggested Donation: $250
    3 Children……..Suggested Donation: $300
    4 Children……..Suggested Donation: $350
    5 Children……..Suggested Donation: $400

  4. Unfortunately, WIT is not able to accept cash donations or toys to give to families.

  5. In the event we have more donors than families in our Adopt-A-Family program, WIT will use excess gift cards from donors for clients in need throughout the year.

How to participate in Adopt-A-Family:

  1. Fill out the form at the end of the page by Monday, December 9, 2024. After you have submitted this form, a staff member from WIT will contact you via email with information about the family/families you have been matched with.

  2. Please purchase e-gift cards from the family's choice of Target, Walmart, or Amazon. Please note that the WIT office is on a hybrid work schedule so we can only accept e-gift card donations.

  3. Email the e-gift cards to ilbrantley@helpwomen.org no later than December 18, 2024. This will help us ensure that all gifts reach their families before the holiday! Include the family name and the donation amount in the email.

Note: these donations are not tax-deductible because they are being made directly to the family, and not to a non-profit organization.
