WIT Unveils New Mission and Vision Statements

As we celebrate the New Year, we are excited to share Women In Transition’s new mission and vision statements. These statements are the result of thoughtful and engaging conversations between WIT's staff, board, and clients.

Language is extremely important to us at WIT, yet words and meaning are fluid. We grappled with choosing words and phrases we felt accurately reflected our work while also speaking to the diverse experiences of Survivors. Phrases like domestic abuse, domestic violence, and intimate partner violence connate different things for different people. True to our belief in meeting Survivors where they are, we choose to incorporate broad language into our mission and vision.

Most importantly, we feel these new statements reflect WIT, our values, and our commitment to Survivors. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the development of our new Mission and Vision, and a special shout out to Ana Lisa Yoder from Yoder Consultancy and WIT Board member Jessica Weber.

Mission Statement:
Women In Transition empowers people with the knowledge, support, and ability to thrive beyond domestic abuse/intimate partner violence and substance abuse.

Vision Statement:
We envision a world where people are free to pursue safety, healthy relationships, and supportive communities.

Thank you so much for your belief in our work,

Corinne Lagermasini, Executive Director
