Women In Transition (WIT) currently seeks a full-time Volunteer & Hotline Coordinator. This position is responsible for: coordinating WIT’s volunteer and intern program; overseeing coverage of the LifeLine; and providing crisis intervention telephone counseling, advocacy, and safety planning services on WIT’s telephone LifeLine.
This is a full-time position (35 hours per week) reporting to WIT’s Program Director. Although WIT is currently providing services to clients remotely due to COVID-19, the person in this position is expected to be able to work in WIT’s Center City, Philadelphia office when we return to onsite work in the future.

Duties & Responsibilities
Volunteer Coordinator
Oversee all aspects of WIT’s volunteer program including recruitment, placement and retention of volunteers
Assess WIT volunteer needs on an ongoing basis; develop volunteer recruitment strategies and materials
Actively recruit new volunteers and interns through outreach and community engagement
Interview and select volunteers and conduct reference checks and background checks
Create and maintain volunteer service records (applications, resumes, reference checks)
Support and encourage volunteers to ensure volunteer retention
Celebrate volunteers; development and implement recognition activities for volunteers
Coordinate volunteer and staff afternoon Play Care coverage
LifeLine Coordinator & Counselor
Have overall responsibility for ensuring that the WIT LifeLife hotline is covered by staff, interns and volunteers Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm
Provide crisis intervention counseling to callers
Screen and assess callers; identify and prioritize caller’s immediate needs
Safety plan and offer information to callers; provide resources and referrals
Educate callers on the dynamics of DV
Accurately document all program and direct service activities
Enter client data into WIT’s client database
Skills & Experience
Excellent listening and verbal communication skills
Possess a natural ability to connect with people and build relationships
Commitment to working with clients experiencing domestic violence or substance use to develop a plan for their safety and to preserve their right to determine what is best for them
Personable and able to connect and develop a positive rapport with volunteers with diverse set of experiences and backgrounds as well as with staff, supporters and partners
Strong administrative and organizational skills
Experience working on a hotline and/or coordinating volunteers a plus
Qualifications
Associate or undergraduate degree or documentation of the equivalent in work experience in the field of human services or other relevant degree
Upon hiring, within 60 days, must complete 40-hour Domestic Violence Advocate Training and the Crime Victims Compensation Training, and within 30 days must provide FBI, Act 33 criminal background check and child abuse clearances
